Reading this version of the Christian Scriptures brings a new understanding of who God is and what my role is in this world.
Thanks to Jack for the courage to create such a lovely work of art.
God chose to reveal himself using masculine imagery and I simply don't believe we should tamper with that, God is God after all and he knew what he was doing. However depending on your view of Biblical inspiration and inerrancy you may find this change, acceptable.
Also to all the women who say they couldn't relate to the Bible because of masculine language, all the Biblical figures are still human and they all still experienced the same basic set of emotions that you do. So perhaps the problem lies not in the Biblical text, but in yourself.
After all I relate to the "masculine" Bible perfectly fine, and so do all the women I know.
The worst possible mistake one can make is to alter the word of God. Many believe that if the Bible had more stories about women that it would be more suitable for women. This is, in essence, believing that God made a mistake. His ways are higher than ours, and when we tamper with His word to make it "more applicable," we are making ourselves smarter than God (at least in our minds). This version of the Bible will not lead anyone to salvation, but instead to a confused life of self-centeredness. Remember that the devil is very cunning, and has always appealed to the woman to make her more like God. Learn from Eve's first mistake, be wise, and avoid this book at all costs.
There is so much undoing needed in the damage that the sexist Biblical "he" has inflicted on readers of the Bible I hope that you will make a hard-copy version of this Book. I imagine a lot of feminist women and men wanting to give this to their daughters. Another suggestion How about switching back and forth, "she" to "he"? But I do understand the motivation to balance things out with this "she" version of the Bible. Thank you to all who have done this work!
This is *exactly* what the world needs. Woman's voices have been silenced for way, way too long. To have a text that has been used for such silencing redeemed as a text for empowering is transcendent and Holy. Bravo.
This is a very necessary and helpful Biblical translation, because it speaks deeply to the feminine soul. This translation is not perfect, but then again none are. This translation however is necessary to hear and feel the sacred truths that are obscured by the usual masculine lens of text.
